Credit Unions of Wales Awards 2024

On October 17th we celebrated International Credit Union Day, an annual celebration of all the incredible work done by individuals and organisations in supporting financial inclusion and fostering community development throughout Wales.

The Credit Unions of Wales Awards were started in 2017, since then we have witnessed a remarkable growth in the total number of nominations and votes received, this year over 6000 total votes were counted, a massive milestone in elevating the profile of the overall credit union movement that has helped to elevate the profile and showcase Credit Unions and their positive impacts on people’s lives all across Wales.

With that all being said, we are proud to announce that at this year's Credit Unions of Wales Awards, Cambrian Credit Union was nominated for four awards and were the winners of three!

Firstly, the Access to Financial Services Award, highlighting new ways Credit Unions have evolved to increase access to services for their members though new service areas, partnerships or improvements and updates, sponsored by Stop Loan Sharks Wales.

Secondly, the Product and Innovation Award, which looks to reward and encourage a forward-thinking approach to Credit Unions and is designed to shine the spotlight on new products and services within the industry, sponsored by Nest Egg.

Finally, the Moneyworks Workplace Champion Award, sponsored by Progress, was won by Catherine Wynne Lloyd of the Welsh Ambulance Service.

This award is aimed at highlighting the positive affect a workplace champion can have in establishing positive and inclusive financial services to their colleagues through engagement and promotion.
